Born in a family of doctors and professionals, following a 9 to 5 timetable and having a set routine, I was expected to follow suit and that is what I envisioned for myself as well. I have a degree in Marketing from LSE but starting my own business was never a part of any plans I had for myself.

It was a spur of the moment decision and I am happy to say, that throughout my career changes, Bastay has remained that one consistent thing, which I needed.

“If you can’t find a job, then create one for yourself.” This was a game changer for me. Having heard one of my teachers at LSE say this, it motivated me to start Bastay when I was unable to find a suitable job. You graduate, thinking that you’ll be pursuing a career path you have been passionate about in no time, but for me that did not happen.

Not finding a decent job for the longest period of time not only frustrated me, it also led me to create a job for myself, so there’s always a silver lining, I guess.

I began work with very little capital and, literally, no knowledge of how to run a business.
I was, however, very determined to make it work and see it through till the end. Bastay was a hit, after trying my hand at various jobs in different domains, I am glad that I began something of my own.

As clichéd as this will sound, there are a few things which you need to constantly remind yourself: 1. Failures are inevitable in life and you cannot give up if something doesn’t work out for you. 2. Being persistent and believing in your ideas is extremely important.

Where there’s a will, there’s a way, so you might start small but if you remain true to your goal and put in effort to achieve that goal, you’ll undoubtedly prosper.
